Job summary

Haley Ward is seeking a Civil Project Engineer in Saco, ME to plan, design, and manage residential, commercial, and industrial site projects within schedules and budgets. The role requires PE license with experience or EIT on track to PE, plus AutoCAD proficiency and strong math and communication skills.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license with a minimum of 4 years of related experience OR Engineer in Training (EIT) on track to attain PE with a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
• Strong mathematical skills are required.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD is required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Supports project team toward preparation of a professional, economical, and effective set of plans and specifications for each project.
• Conducts engineering computations to design complex projects.
• Communicates with regulatory staff and represents clients at agency hearings.
• Performs overall quality control of the work and reports on project status to Project Manager.
• Monitors compliance with codes, QA/QC policies, and specifications.
• Promotes project proposals including scope of work, time schedule, and manpower estimates.

What you can expect to be doing:

Haley Ward is looking for a Civil Project Engineer who will plan, organize, design and control the activities of projects to best accomplish the successful completion of all projects to which assigned while operating within the guidelines established by the Project Manager, and within established schedules, budgets, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) policy constraints. Typical projects will entail design of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional site plans. Projects will include site layout and grading as well as utility design (i.e. sanitary sewer, storm sewer, water system, etc.) typically associated with land development work.

Responsibilities

• Supports project team toward preparation of a professional, economical, and effective set of plans and specifications for each individual project.
• Conducts engineering computations to design difficult and complex engineering projects.
• Communicates directly with governmental/regulatory staff relative to design concepts and requirements. Represents clients at regulatory agency hearings or meetings.
• Performs overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans) and reports regularly on project status to Project Manager.
• Monitors compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications.
• Responsible for the design concept of the plans and specifications.
• Consults and advises field engineers, contractors, and inspectors regarding the construction phase of the project.
• Communicates with the Project Manager on project strategy and matters that may impact the outcome of a project.
• Assists in preparation of project proposals including scope of work, time schedule, and manpower estimates.
• Promotes new business for the total company and for own area of expertise.

What you will need to succeed:

• BS in Civil Engineering required.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in both office and field settings. Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions. Work hours are flexible and are subject to change based upon project schedules. Frequent site visits may be necessary.

The estimated range for this role is: $87,360 to $102,960. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications, credentials, skills, and demonstrated proficiency for the role. Compensation is reviewed at least annually each year. Compensation is also adjusted throughout the year to recognize position advancement, responsibilities and licensure and/or certification.
