Qualifications

  • Expert skill level with soldering and hot-air rework.
  • Proficient with 0201 rework and assembling 0.35mm-pitch components.

Responsibilities

  • Modify/Repair PCBs: Perform modifications and rework for electrical engineering team. Examples would be to add debug leads, replace resistors/capacitors, touch up solder joints.
  • Assemble PCBs: Assemble PCBs that are not sent for SMT. These boards are designed with higher-pitch components to aid in hand assembly. Quantities are limited.
  • Supervise Electrical Lab: Maintain the electrical engineering lab. Keep supplies of commonly used items. Oversee the general cleanliness of the lab. Organize equipment and keep track of calibration schedules.
  • Support Vuzix On-Site Manufacturing: Work with manufacturing team to repair fixtures or provide cable assemblies.
  • Support quality control activities such as incoming and outgoing inspections.
  • Meets required ISO 9001:2015 standards and necessary training based on the relevant Quality Objectives.

Position Summary:

The Senior Engineering Technician will be reworking and modifying high-density, small-pitch PCB designs.

Required to work alongside a team with PCB design and firmware expertise. This position will also support the functions of the R&D – Electrical Department to meet the requirements of the relevant ISO 9001:2015 standards based on the quality objectives established by Top Management.

Minimal Qualifications:
  • 10 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Expert skill level with soldering and hot-air rework.
  • Proficient with 0201 rework.
  • Proficient with assembling 0.35mm-pitch components.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Comfort level with computer operation – running test applications, installing development board software, etc.
  • Industry certifications are preferred.

Physical Demands:

Frequently required to sit, speak, hear, see, and perform repetitive motion (data entry).
