Job summary

Contract Specialties Group is seeking an Electro/Mechanical Assembler in Hauppauge, New York. This role involves building electronic components to specifications while ensuring high-quality products meet stringent safety standards.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and a minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical environment. Responsibilities include fabricating cable assemblies, soldering electronic parts, and supporting engineering in prototype builds.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a technical environment.
  • Experience in Research and Development.
  • Knowledge of Global Shop Solutions (GSS) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate complete cable and harness assemblies.
  • Populate and solder electronic assemblies.
  • Support engineering team in building prototypes and test fixtures.
  • Follow safety requirements and policies.

Skills

Proficiency in cutting, stripping, tinning, and crimping cable and harness
Understanding of ESD practices
Ability to identify electronic components
Knowledge of circuit boards, soldering, and electronics
Ability to read and work from electrical prints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
Basic computer skills
Ability to use a multi-meter to troubleshoot AC/DC circuits
Ability to work as part of a team and independently

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent
Formal electronics or MIL-SPEC training
SMT or other Soldering Certificates
Minimum of two (2) years of similar experience in a technical environment

Tools

Hand and power tools standard to a production environment

Job Description
  • Fabricate complete cable and harness assemblies, via wire selection, cutting, stripping, crimping and tinning of wire per product design specifications, schematics, wire lists and IPC standards
  • Populate and solder electronic assemblies with through-hole and surface-mount components
  • Populating and soldering PCB’s
  • Support engineering team in building electronic and mechanical prototypes and test fixtures
  • Work from schematics and other engineering documentation
  • Follow all VJX and OSHA workplace safety requirements and policies
  • Safety Sensitive Position
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years of similar experience in a technical environment

Physical & Mental Demands
  • Regularly required to sit, walk, bend, stoop and stand within an industrial environment
  • Will need to repeatedly use hands & fingers to operate basic office equipment and operate hand and power tools standard to a production environment
  • Expected to effectively communicate in person, on the phone, via email and other electronic devices on a continual and repetitive basis
  • Responsibilities could require lifting, moving, staging, and placing of materials up to 50 pounds alone and heavier with assistance
  • Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner
