The Role:
The role of a Retail Packaging Engineering Program Manager (Retail Packaging EPM) is to drive execution of the device packaging experience in support of product launches and sustaining packaging programs. This role will focus primarily on awareness around global regulatory requirements pertaining to packaging and establishing implementation plans for ensuring compliance against enforcement dates. This includes schedule creation and coordination with inter-disciplinary teams to ensure packaging structure and artwork is developed and approved on-time and oversight of any initiatives being driven/owned by other team members. The role also involves ownership of the Print On Demand (POD) labeling process and deliverables, and will have some involvement in supporting Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) reporting. In addition to creating packaging plans, and development/compliance schedules, the role requires Bill of Material (BOM) support.
Working closely with global, cross-functional team members (e.g., Product Legal, Compliance Legal, Hardware Compliance Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Global Commodity Management, Industrial Design, Marketing, Product Management, Go-to-Market, Operations, Logistics, Technical Program Management), they define key aspects of product packaging via structural design, execution, test, and delivery; while motivating cross-functional teams to deliver the product(s), as per the program requirements.
A strong program management foundation is required for this role and ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing tasks/deliverables is critical. Ability to navigate ambiguous situations and develop execution plans around limited information is also a key requirement.
- Experience applying scrum to visual or UX design processes
- Experience with UX design of complex workflows
- Packaging Engineering, Packaging Program Management, or direct packaging development experience
- Knowledge or experience in global packaging development and manufacturing
- Experience on programs using product development process lifecycles
- Experience with label design, label design programs, implementing, utilizing and/or sustaining Print-On-Demand (POD) labeling processes
- Experience with the assessment and implementation of compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work closely with people at all levels of the organization to facilitate the implementation of packaging programs including structure, artwork, factory build readiness and escalations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
