Job summary

Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) is seeking a qualified professional to manage the Source of Supply process and oversee consultant material inspection contracts, primarily focusing on steel and precast concrete elements. The role includes troubleshooting production and field issues, coordinating with industry, researching new technologies, and training staff.

The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in inclement weather, and occasional overtime.

Qualifications

• Three years experience in construction material testing and laboratory or field sampling procedures and equipment used in testing highway construction materials such as soils, aggregates, asphalt, hot-mix/warm-mix asphalt, Portland cement, or Portland cement concrete.
• Three years experience in developing analytical and technical documents such as reports, maps, or geographical representations of data.
• Three years experience in interpreting standard test procedures, specifications, and plan documents or technical drawings.
• One year experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.
• One year experience in project management which includes planning, developing, implementing, managing and evaluating projects or testing requirements to ensure objectives are met.
• Knowledge of contract management and control which includes ensuring compliance with terms of contracts; negotiating changes to existing contracts.
• Knowledge of developing and reviewing highway construction designs, plans, specifications, studies, or surveys.
• Knowledge of staff supervision which includes planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others.
• Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
