Uber is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager (L6) to lead an engineering organization at scale, guiding strategic roadmaps and architectural decisions for distributed systems, ML orchestration, and global payments. You will partner across Product, Data Science, Design, and Finance to align efforts with business goals and ensure reliability and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in engineering management and 4+ years as a manager of managers.
• Track record of setting direction for an organization and unifying multiple teams toward customer needs.
• Drive high productivity and a bias to action across direct teams while unblocking dependencies.
• Experience coaching managers on crafting team visions and translating strategy into roadmaps.
• Experience managing organizational performance and making hard calls for long-term productivity.
• Drive a culture of accountability for technical decisions and balancing risk.
• Education: Master's degree or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a high-performing engineering organization of managers and staff-level ICs, fostering technical excellence and operational rigor.
• Define and execute the strategic roadmap for your domain, aligning investments with high-impact use cases and long-term goals.
• Drive architectural decisions for large-scale distributed systems, including batch compute, ML orchestration, or global payments.
• Partner across Product, Data Science, Design, and Finance to identify opportunities and deliver platform integrations.
• Own reliability, cost-efficiency, and performance, establishing metrics to drive impact.
• Synthesize diverse stakeholder inputs to drive decisions and unblock execution.
