Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Mapping team in San Francisco, shaping how we build and scale map-based experiences for drivers and passengers. You will mentor engineers, plan delivery, and partner with product, design, and research to ship high-quality software.

You will hire, develop, and retain top engineers, foster an inclusive, fast-moving culture, and balance long-term architecture with quick wins.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors, Masters in Computer Science or at least 7 years of industry experience building and shipping software.
  • Experience leading software engineering teams through tough problems, growing people and shipping software.
  • Experience leading a team that shipped a mobile product with millions of users.
  • Previous experience as a software engineer.
  • Ability to decompose complex business problems and lead a team in solving them in a fast-paced but also rigorous fashion.
  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Work closely with the company recruiting team to hire high potential candidates from diverse backgrounds.
  • Work with engineers and product managers to maintain a prioritized backlog and create short/long term goals.
  • Own your team’s deliverables and ensure we continue to ship high-quality products.
  • Help your team build relationships across functions Product, Design, User Research, Science, and others.

Our engineering team is growing rapidly, and we are looking for Engineering Managers to help us scale. Our engineers are smart, flexible, and love solving difficult challenges. They look to their managers for organizational transparency, career development, mentorship, and honest feedback. They move fast and ship code to production continuously, relying on their leadership to increase productivity by removing obstacles and keeping processes lean.

The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is $208,000 - $260,000, not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
