B2U Storage Solutions is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Lancaster, CA engineering team responsible for Battery Energy Storage Systems. You will drive strategic roadmapping, mentor engineers, and steer projects from development through deployment.

The role combines strategic thinking with hands-on technical leadership, requiring collaboration with operations, product development, and executive teams to deliver reliable energy storage solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; 7+ years of engineering experience.
• 7+ years of engineering management experience with a track record of delivering complex projects.
• 5+ years in BESS, energy storage, power generation, or related industry.
• Proven ability to lead R&D, product development, and technology commercialization initiatives.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills; able to mentor teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the engineering team from Lancaster, CA, providing direction, mentorship, and day-to-day leadership.
• Operate as a hands-on engineering leader, participating in design reviews, troubleshooting, and project execution.
• Lead and support R&D initiatives, including evaluation, development, testing, validation, and improvement of energy storage tech.
• Partner with senior leadership to determine priorities for the product and technology roadmap and drive initiatives.
• Translate concepts into practical, scalable solutions deployable across BESS projects.
• Coordinate engineering activities for deployments with engineers, consultants, vendors, and operations.

• Collaborate with Operations to identify field issues and translate lessons into improvements.

B2U is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to join the leadership team, reporting to the Director of Engineering.

The ideal candidate is a strong technical leader who can operate strategically while remaining close to work. This person will be comfortable working directly with engineers, operations, consultants, and cross-functional leadership to solve technical challenges, improve processes, and move projects from development through deployment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the engineering team from B2U’s hub of operations in Lancaster, CA, providing technical direction, mentorship, and day-to-day leadership.
• Serve as a hands-on engineering leader, actively participating in technical problem-solving, design reviews, troubleshooting, and project execution rather than functioning solely as a people manager.
• Lead and support R&D engineering initiatives, including evaluation, development, testing, validation, and improvement of B2U’s energy storage technology and systems.
• Partner with the Director of Engineering and leadership team to determine priorities for the product and technology roadmap and lead implementation of priority initiatives.
• Translate R&D concepts and engineering priorities into practical, scalable solutions that can be deployed across B2U’s BESS projects.
• Coordinate engineering activities for B2U’s BESS project deployments in conjunction with the engineering team, engineering consultants, vendors, and operations team.
• Provide technical leadership throughout the design, development, testing, commissioning, and deployment lifecycle.
• Oversee engineering processes and procedures related to operations, assembly, construction, testing, and deployment to ensure safety, reliability, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Establish and improve engineering standards, processes, documentation, and quality control practices.
• Work closely with Operations to identify field issues and translate lessons learned into engineering, design, and process improvements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Project Development, Procurement, Finance, and executive leadership, to ensure engineering priorities align with business objectives.
• Manage project schedules, resources, costs, technical deliverables, and risk mitigation.
• Experience leading R&D, product development, or technology commercialization initiatives.
• Strong project management, cost control, schedule development, and risk management skills.
• Ability to move between strategic planning and hands-on technical execution.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical and operational issues.
• Highly motivated, process-oriented self-starter who thrives in an innovative and entrepreneurial environment.

• Experience with product development, R&D, testing, commissioning, or commercialization of energy systems strongly preferred.
