Job summary

AkzoNobel in Columbus, OH is seeking an Engineering & Maintenance Manager to lead site engineering, maintenance, and capital projects, ensuring on-time customer orders and products meeting quality standards. You will guide project investments and coordinate with HSE, Quality, and Production.

Required: a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and at least five years in management roles within chemical processing or industrial plants, with proven capital project oversight, safety compliance, budgeting,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred)
• Minimum of 5 years in manager responsibilities or supervising others
• At least 5 years in chemical processing or industrial plant operations
• Ability to manage multiple Capital Projects simultaneously
• Strong knowledge of Building Codes (BOCA), OSHA, and Process Safety Management concepts
• Experience in project management including contract management, scheduling, construction
• Proven leadership and team development abilities
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Oversee site engineering and maintenance to meet on-time shipping and quality standards
• Lead capital and expense projects from scope to commissioning and closure
• Plan and embed engineering changes within quality and cost objectives
• Manage capex plans and deliver studies and projects on time and within budget
• Coordinate with HSE, Quality, and Production during capital investments
• Define project needs with technical input and investment requests
• Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers on contracts and terms
• Analyze equipment reliability and implement corrective action plans
• Manage maintenance and engineering budgets including cost allocation
• Ensure preventive maintenance and inspections meet regulatory/business needs
• Engage and motivate maintenance and engineering teams
• Lead training and development of maintenance personnel
• Adhere to corporate/site policies on safety and PSRA

Education
