The Engineering Manager is responsible for all Site Engineering and Maintenance activity, including safety, quality, continuous process improvement efforts, and execution of capital projects. The facility is high hazard and complies with OSHA Process Safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion the Process Safety Management Program and ensure compliance with OSHA and AkzoNobel standards.
- Evaluate and execute continuous process improvements and lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Responsible for the Capital Investments Plan for the site, prioritizing projects with stakeholders and coordinating implementation with HSE&S, Quality, and Production Departments. Annual budget 2 million Euro.
- Owner of Engineering and Maintenance Policies and Procedures to ensure a trained, safe, and efficient workforce.
- Responsible for the selection, training, development and motivation of all maintenance and engineering personnel.
Maintenance Responsibilities
- Assure that assets are utilized and maintained properly to maximize shareholder value.
- Analyze equipment reliability and implement action plans to reduce and eliminate failures.
- Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers on contract, pricing and terms and optimize activities performed by them.
- Ensure compliance with all HSE&S procedures and regulations.
- Engage the team by providing good communication and fostering excellent teamwork.
Site Management Team Responsibilities
- Participate on the ALPS-CI Site Steering Committee and lead Continuous Improvement Programs.
- Include HSE&S responsibilities and training requirements as documented in Reading Site BMS 4.3.11 HSES Responsibilities and Training.
- Oversee health, safety, environmental, security responsibilities, including management of change, regulatory compliance, environmental protection, pollution prevention and sustainability.
- Manage contractor, asset integrity, process and equipment design, operation, maintenance and equipment integrity.
- Use available HSES training resources and provide required training; promote safety culture by intervening to stop unsafe work; adhere to corporate, federal, state, and local requirements; perform other duties as required for the success of AkzoNobel.
Job Requirements
- BS in Engineering required (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical preferred).
- 7 years’ experience in Engineering.
- Experience with DCS (especially ABB) platform preferred.
- Preferred candidate has experience in a chemistry/coatings/resin plant and is familiar with implementing OSHA PSM. Experience executing and leading Hazard Study reviews, Pre Startup Safety Reviews, and Management of Change is strongly desired.
- Demonstrated process improvements through structured methodology (A3, root cause, PDCA, Lean, Six Sigma, etc); certifications (Green/Black belt) are preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Office/Power BI/Sharepoint skills.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) capable of conversing with employees at all levels of the supply chain; direct people management experience preferred; exceptional aptitude in technical writing for Capital Requests and Training documents.
Salary and Benefits
Base salary range for this role is: $120,000 to $132,000.
