Job summary

Ondas Sentinel in Tucson, AZ seeks a Director of Engineering to lead the engineering organization with technical oversight across Stratospheric ISR programs. The role guides priorities, strategy, and teams through the full product lifecycle from concept to deployment.

The ideal candidate combines deep systems engineering with strong leadership to build high‑performing teams and deliver mission‑critical aerospace systems for defense and government applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree; Master’s degree preferred.
• 15+ years progressive engineering experience in aerospace/defense/autonomous systems.
• Minimum 5 years in engineering management leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with systems engineering for complex platforms (vehicles, payloads, C2, ground systems).
• Experience guiding products from concept to production and deployment.
• Strong architecture, requirements, integration, verification, and configuration management.
• Experience managing budgets, schedules, risks and resources.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary engineering organization and foster technical excellence.
• Set engineering priorities and direction across multiple programs.
• Drive technology roadmaps with internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead system architecture, requirements, and design activities for platforms, payloads, software, and ground systems.
• Provide end‑to‑end technical oversight through the full lifecycle: concept, design, integration, verification, production, deployment.
• Oversee prototype development and rapid demonstrations to mature capabilities.
• Define execution plans, monitor performance, and manage costs and risks.
• Implement engineering processes and metrics for schedules and progress.
• Serve as senior technical interface with customers, government stakeholders, and partners.
• Maintain requirements traceability and robust documentation for program execution.
