Job summary

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services is seeking a Senior Staff Engineering Geologist to join our Pittsburgh, PA team. The role acts as a field representative during subsurface exploration and construction, supporting a wide range of projects from universities to large-scale developments.

You will collaborate with engineers to assess geologic conditions, develop maps and sections, and prepare reports.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Geology; MS preferred.
4+ years of practical geologic/geotechnical experience.
Experience with geologic hazard investigations (landslide, fault rupture, rockfall).
Experience with detailed geologic mapping at a professional level.
Ability to communicate technical details to clients and staff.

Responsibilities

Perform geologic/seismic hazard analysis, construction observation and testing services, and other geologic- and geotechnical-related aspects of a project.
Develop scope and execute field investigations.
Identify and implement field and lab work solutions.
Identify and characterize geologic hazards in the field.
Research and compile geologic data for projects.
Work with engineers to provide geologic support with respect to impact of site geologic conditions to site structures.
Develop geologic cross sections, geologic maps, and other pertinent figures for project reports.
Prepare and reviewlogs and reports; and
Performother duties as requested.
