- Compensation: Yearly Salary $140,000 - $150,000

Overview
We are seeking a Senior Engineer - Water/Wastewater in Charlotte, NC. Responsible for planning, design, and supervision of capital and in-house projects for water and wastewater utilities, providing engineering expertise and support for operations, personnel, and project management, along with regulatory support.
Work Location and Schedule
Primarily based at our Charlotte, NC office.
What You'll Do
- Perform project scope alternative analysis to identify optimal solutions.
- Create standards, designs, and plans for water and wastewater systems.
- Evaluate project proposals and engineering designs, providing professional approval.
- Exercise professional judgment in design criteria and process selection.
- Engage with regulatory agencies, utility operators, and technical staff.
- Develop business cases including scope, cost, and schedule analyses.
- Prepare engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Oversee utility projects and manage external contractors.
- Inspect construction, ensure compliance, and perform testing as needed.
- Coordinate with Field Operations on construction activities.
- Manage projects as designated, ensuring safety and standards are met.
- Review and approve change orders and proposals.
- Update engineering and construction standards.
- Conduct hydraulic system analysis and troubleshooting on-site.
- Provide technical support to operations and act as SME.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of Project Management experience.
- At least 5 years as a Professional Engineer in water/wastewater utilities.
- Experience with design procedures, construction techniques, and contract administration.
Education, Licenses, and Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil or Environmental preferred).
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) licensure.
Nice to Have
- Experience with SCADA, GIS, and asset management software.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong safety commitment.
- Deep understanding of municipal water/sewer engineering practices.
- Excellent project management and communication skills.
- Ability to develop clear proposals and reports.
- Proficiency with engineering software and Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver’s license and physical ability to perform duties.

- Office and field conditions, potential exposure to hazards, chemicals, and extreme weather.
