Senior Electrical Engineer - Water/Wastewater

Our team of multi-disciplinary experts is seeking a driven professional who will utilize their design expertise to dream big ideas on various and complex projects needing electrical design and construction support.

We’d rely on your collaboration skills to coordinate interdisciplinary work for overall project success as well as encourage you to bring your fresh ideas to work every day. You’ll prepare and manage detailed electrical power systems design for water and wastewater treatment facilities. You’ll work with a knowledgeable and supportive team as you develop One-Line Diagrams, Motor Control Diagrams, Panel Schedules, Conduit Routing, Load Calculations, and Voltage Drop Calculations as well coordinate with the Electric Utility Company for new services as needed. As a supporter of various clients, you’ll use AGi32 lighting software to perform calculations and provide photometrics. In addition to preparation of contract drawings during the design phase, the role will require writing and editing electrical specifications, selecting equipment, electrical systems and devices. In the construction phase, the role will require reviewing submittals, RFIs, change orders, preparation of record drawings, conduct site visits, inspections and participate in start-up activities. You will be a part and parcel of electrical safety in design and conducting arc flash analyses and other electrical studies for our clients.

Here's what you'll need

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other related field
  2. Registered Professional Engineer in Texas
  3. 10+ years working experience in the water/wastewater industry in electrical engineering role
  4. Experience in designing and delivering municipal water and wastewater treatment projects via different delivery methods (design-bid-build, design-build, or other alternatives) a plus
  5. Experienced in phased project deliverables such as design reports, drawings and specifications for power distribution applications, including calculation of available short circuit current, voltage drop, harmonic distortion, load calculations, power factor, equipment, conduit, conductor sizing, electrical plans, schematics and schedules
  6. Strong understanding of NEC
  7. Strong commitment to quality of deliverables
  8. Motivated and self-starter/pays attention to detail and willing to multi-task on different project teams
  9. Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Powerpoint, Word and Excel
  10. Strong analytical, conceptual, communication and organizational skills
  11. Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and management
  12. Ability to mentor junior staff
  13. Ability to work and thrive in a team environment
  14. Ability to lead teams
  15. Strong problem-solving skills
  16. Ability to self-motivate and work productively without supervision

Ideally you'll also have:

  1. Working knowledge of SKM or ETAP for modeling electrical systems
  2. Field investigation, construction site inspection and startup experience
  3. Working knowledge of NFPA 70E, NFPA 820 Familiarity with IEEE color book series
  4. Working knowledge of AGi32 or Visual Lighting Software
  5. Knowledge of Bluebeam Revu
  6. Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation
  7. Ability to travel to project sites and interact with clients

The base salary range for this position is $129,400.00 to $226,500.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
