Job summary

Erdman Anthony is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the water resources and transportation design program in Pennsylvania. The role focuses on permitting, stormwater management, drainage design, hydraulics studies, and related tasks across multiple transportation projects.

The position requires a Civil Engineering degree and 8–10+ years of experience, with a PE license for PA or ability to obtain. Proficiency in MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, and HEC-RAS is desired.

Job description

The Senior Engineer - Water Resource/Transportation will lead the design of our water resources program in Pennsylvania including permitting, storm water management, erosion control, hydraulics studies, and drainage design on a variety of transportation projects across the state.

Responsibilities:

• Executes assignments requiring a thorough knowledge of engineering fundamentals and the application of these fundamentals to the production of engineering work
• Works on projects that typically include permitting, stormwater management, erosion and sedimentation control, drainage, bridge hydraulics, and other transportation related water resources tasks
• Executes a variety of engineering tasks including preparation of reports, investigatory studies, preparation of design calculations, and detailing for plan preparation
• Translates design criteria and standard details into completed designs
• Prepares and supervises designs in compliance with company design procedures as well as client standards and regulatory requirements
• Is proactive in clarifying directions on project design issues, and proceeds on projects with a clear understanding of the scope, time, schedule and budget
• Able to completes tasks on or before scheduled amount of time and within budget
• Attends project team meetings and serves can serve as Task Manager
• Maintains frequent communication with project team members to verify design requirements and identify problems that arise
• Coordinates water resources staff member assignments and provide assistance and direction to staff to ensure project tasks are completed on time and within budget
• Performs field related tasks, as necessary, to ensure quality completion of engineering assignments

Requirements:

• Candidates shall possess a BS or MS degree in civil engineering
• 8-10+ years of progressive technical experience, diversified knowledge preferred
• Civil engineer with water resources design and transportation engineering focus
• Professional Engineer license required for PA or ability to obtain
• Prior experience in consulting engineering industry specific to transportation design projects
• PennDOT experience is desirable
• Familiarity with DEP NPDES/Joint Permits and Conservation District requirements for development of H&H studies, storm water management designs and erosion control plans
• Experience with MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, and HEC-RAS required
• Ability to manage and take responsibility of technical work content and tasks
• Proficient with planning, scheduling, cost estimating, and coordinating detailed water resources aspects of transportation engineering projects
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills, including proposal and report writing
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
• Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to mentor staff
