Job summary

Fishbeck is seeking a Senior Engineer – Wastewater Planning & Modeling in Grand Rapids, MI. You will lead wastewater collection system planning, hydraulic modeling, flow monitoring, and related studies for regional communities and wastewater authorities.

You’ll collaborate with the Water/Wastewater Team to manage projects, mentor junior staff, and support client interactions while contributing to proposals and business development in a dynamic, employee-owned firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) is required.
• 8+ years of experience in flow monitoring, modeling, and analysis of sanitary and storm sewer systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead sanitary sewer flow monitoring programs, data review, and analysis.
• Develop, calibrate, and apply sanitary sewer and combined sewer hydraulic models.
• Perform wastewater collection system capacity evaluations and wet weather analyses.
• Prepare wastewater master plans, alternatives analyses, and technical memorandums.
• Analyze SSES data and support solutions for SSO, CSO, and basement backup concerns.
• Lead project management activities, client meetings, schedules, and budgets.
• Support proposals, scope development, and business development efforts.

Working with our Water/Wastewater Team, you will lead and support wastewater collection system planning, hydraulic modeling, flow monitoring, system capacity evaluations, and municipal infrastructure studies for communities and wastewater authorities throughout the region.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and lead sanitary sewer flow monitoring programs, data review, and analysis.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related field).
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
• 8+ years of experience in flow monitoring, modeling, and analysis of sanitary and storm sewer systems.
• Proficiency with EPA SWMM and PCSWMM; experience with InfoWorks ICM is a plus.
• Strong communication skills, including technical writing and client interaction.
• Ability to lead projects and mentor junior staff.
