About the Role

JB&B is seeking a Senior Engineer to join the HVAC department at our New York office. The Senior Engineer should have a strong knowledge of design and project processes, and interdisciplinary coordination with other engineering trades. The role involves collaborating effectively with team members to ensure designs meet JB&B’s standards. The Senior Engineer is also expected to contribute positively to the office environment, share knowledge with staff, act as a mentor, and participate in office activities.

Responsibilities

• Design tenant fit-out projects and complete tasks related to base building/infrastructure upgrades, including assembling riser diagrams, schedules, and floor plans.
• Plan and coordinate routing of major distribution systems, main equipment rooms, closets, shafts, and risers.
• Lead design tasks supporting overall trade systems such as branch circuiting, duct work distribution, and piping distribution.
• Review shop drawings, perform site visits, and create punch-lists to verify accurate implementation of designs.
• Understand documentation requirements and develop relevant content for each project phase (e.g., SD, DD, CD, specifications).
• Implement office procedures related to design and construction administration, including archiving drawings, updating logs, and managing RFIs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in design calculations and software tools (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD).
• Knowledge of project-specific scopes, trade-related codes, and coordination with other trades.
