Job summary

Qvest US seeks a senior software engineer to lead development across cloud-native apps, data pipelines, and web/mobile services. You’ll mentor teams, shape best practices, and contribute to architecture decisions.

We value hands-on leadership, SDLC proficiency, and a passion for delivering scalable, production-ready software. Onsite/hybrid work may be required at client locations, with flexible arrangements where possible.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software development, including working in teams.
• Experience with agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban or XP.
• Deep knowledge in the and library/framework ecosystems of Java, JavaScript/Typescript, or Python.
• Experience in defining and utilizing software development best practices.
• Definition and utilization of CI/CD pipelines.
• Architectural patterns that balance scope and scale of project needs.
• Identification and mediation of technical debt within a code base over time.
• Deep knowledge building high quality, scalable, and production ready software, such as REST/GraphQL APIs, data pipelines, web and mobile apps, and SOA/microservices.

What you'll bring

• 5+ years in software development, including working in teams
• Experience with agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban or XP
• Deep knowledge in the and library/framework ecosystems of Java, JavaScript/Typescript, or Python
• Experience in defining and utilizing software development best practices
• Project Structures, coding practices, testing practices
• Definition and utilization of CI/CD pipelines
• Architectural patterns that balance scope and scale of project needs
• Identification and mediation of technical debt within a code base over time
• Deep knowledge building high quality, scalable, and production ready software, such as:
• Services with well defined APIs utilizing REST, GraphQL, messaging, or similar
• Data Pipelines to integrate systems, enable analytics, or similar
• Web Applications utilizing modern technology approaches
• Mobile Applications that are built with cross platform development in mind
• Experience constructing systems by composing smaller components. The breadth could include:
• Definition of work units that can be implemented in an efficient, additive way
• SOA, Microservices, or similar architectural patterns
• Separation of concerns via good OOP and/or FP design
• Experience managing data. The breadth could include:
• Design of database schema, constraints and transaction boundaries
• Read/Write design trade-off decisions and how it relates to mutable vs. immutable data state
• Use of Relational vs NoSQL stores for appropriate use cases
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, information systems, computer science, business administration, or other related fields

Experience

• Hands-on experience developing with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with varied compute technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Lambda, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with pipeline definitions (Gitlab-ci, Circle, Travis, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code technologies (CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform, etc.)

Travel Requirements

Employees are responsible for traveling to and from client sites as required by their project or assignment, regardless of location. Travel may include sites outside the employee’s primary office location, state, or region.

Remote & Hybrid Work

While remote or hybrid work may be permitted for certain projects, client needs take precedence. Employees are expected to report onsite at the client location when required by the project scope, client request, or management directive.
