You will collaborate across MEMS, ASIC design, wafer fabrication, and product engineering teams to drive technology from early development through production. The role requires a strong background in MEMS, 5 years of engineering experience, and hands-on use of Python for data analysis and test automation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's and Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Understanding of MEMS design and underlying fundamentals.
  • Experience with Python for data analysis, automation, or engineering applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a cross-functional, multi-site team.

Responsibilities

  • Design, characterize, and analyze MEMS resonators and related technologies.
  • Perform simulations, laboratory evaluations, debugging, characterization, and root-cause analysis of new and existing devices.
  • Participate in the full product development lifecycle from concept to production support.
  • Develop, refine, and maintain test software and automation for lab characterization and production testing.
  • Collaborate with MEMS, ASIC design, process engineering, assembly, test, quality, and product engineering teams to bring new tech to market.
  • Communicate technical findings, project status, risks, and opportunities to leadership.

Job Description

Microchip is seeking a Senior MEMS Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, testing, qualification, and production support of MEMS timing technology for a variety of applications.

The successful candidate will collaborate with engineers across multiple sites and disciplines, including MEMS design, ASIC design, wafer fabrication, assembly, test, and product engineering. This position will help develop and sustain high-performance timing devices from early-stage technology development through production and customer delivery.

  • Design, characterize, and analyze MEMS resonators and related technologies.
  • Perform simulations, laboratory evaluations, debugging, characterization, and root-cause analysis of new and existing devices.

  • Develop, refine, and maintain test software and automation used for laboratory characterization and production testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including MEMS, ASIC design, process engineering, assembly, test, quality, and product engineering, to bring new technologies and products to market.
  • Communicate technical findings, project status, risks, and opportunities to project and engineering leadership.
Requirements and Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's and Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
  • 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Understanding of MEMS design and underlying fundamentals.
  • Experience with Python programming for data analysis, automation, or engineering applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a cross-functional team, multi-site team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in a relevant engineering or technical discipline.
  • Direct experience designing, modeling, fabricating, and/or characterizing MEMS resonators.
  • Experience with relevant simulation and analysis tools, such as COMSOL, MATLAB, and Cadence.
  • Experience using Python and LabVIEW for laboratory characterization, test automation, or production device evaluation.
  • Experience analyzing large-scale device test data and developing statistical, machine-learning, or classification models.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing, wafer-level processing, assembly, production testing, or product qualification.

Pay Range

We offer a total compensation package that ranks among the best in the industry. It consists of competitive base pay, restricted stock units, and quarterly bonus payments. In addition to these components, our package includes health benefits that begin day one, retirement savings plans, and an industry leading ESPP program with a 2 year look back feature.

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in the US, is $70,304-$205,000.* *Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
