Job summary

AECOM is seeking a highway design engineer to contribute to our global infrastructure practice. The role involves detailed design work, using OpenRoads/Open Roads Design, Civil 3D and 2D AutoCAD/MicroStation, and supporting projects across UK and US regions.

You will collaborate with a global team, guide entry-level engineers, and help deliver high-quality designs within scheduled budgets and compliance standards.

Qualifications

• Master of Engineering degree in an appropriate engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
• 5 to 9 years experience in highways/ roadway/ motorways design with ORD/Open Roads Design and Civil 3D software
• Preferably worked on UK/US projects / NA-Canada/ ME/ANZ regional projects using different codal standards and guidelines.
• Preferably worked on global design experience and international projects in a collaborative environment
• Software proficiency in AutoCAD/MicroStation (2D design exp) and ORD/Civil 3D is a must
• Highway/rehab related design & modelling, land development, traffic management plans, Junctions, Road Signs & Markings
• Quality process, procedures, implementation for delivery of projects
• Highway related BIM exposure, CDE awareness

Responsibilities

• Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
• Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
• Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
• Identifies discrepancies in results.
• Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
• Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
• Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
