Publix Technology in Lakeland, FL is seeking a Senior Engineer for Infrastructure Escalation Engineering to support the platform and internal business customers. The role offers a hybrid work model with onsite collaboration and remote work options.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree and 2+ years in automation, Windows Server and RHEL, VMware/VCF, ESXi, Hyper‑V, and hardware troubleshooting, plus on‑call experience and strong networking (SSH, TLS).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or analytical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of automation technology experience (Ansible, Terraform) or similar.
• 2+ years Windows Server / Red Hat Enterprise Linux support.
• 2+ years Broadcom VMware/VCF stack experience.
• 2+ years ESXi and Hyper‑V experience.
• 2+ years server hardware troubleshooting (HPE, Dell).
• Experience resolving issues within predefined SLAs.
• On-call rotation experience.
• Experience troubleshooting TCP/IP networking (SSH, TLS).

Responsibilities

• Use analytical triage to provide subject matter expertise in debugging and troubleshooting RHEV/RHEL, ESX, and Windows platform issues as well as hardware issues.
• Analyze problem and incident metrics to identify recurring trends and gaps in monitoring.
• Lead efforts to automate problem resolution and prevention using Ansible, PowerShell, and SCCM to reduce toil.
• Participate in weeklong on-call rotation to provide after-hours support.
• Coordinate and run meetings to restore service quickly and provide root cause analysis and prevention recommendations.
• Own opening and maintaining support cases with vendors like Microsoft, Broadcom (VMware), and HPE.
• Mentor others by maintaining procedures, training materials, and guidance for infrastructure support teams.
• Provide clear communications for the business and leadership for debriefs and ongoing issues resolutions.

We support multiple technologies, including Windows Server operating systems, Red Hat Linux, ESX, and Hyper‑V. Your Impact

• Responsible for coordinating and running meetings to quickly restore service to the business, including working with business and technical users to perform root cause analysis and provide recommendations to prevent recurring issues.
• Own opening and maintaining support cases with vendors like Microsoft, Broadcom (VMware), and HPE
• Mentor others in our org as well as our technical call center by maintaining procedures, training materials, and general guidance for various application and infrastructure support teams, furthering the Infrastructure Escalation Engineering mission of increased uptimes on the systems that we support.
• Provide clear communications for the business and leadership for debrief operations as well as steps to resolve ongoing issues.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or analytical discipline, or equivalent experience
• 2+ years of experience with automation technology like ansible, terraform, or similar technologies.
• 2+ years of experience supporting and troubleshooting Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux
• 2+ years of experience supporting/troubleshooting Broadcom (VMware) platforms including the VCF stack.
• 2+ years of experience supporting ESXi and Hyper‑V virtual machines.
• 2+ years of experience troubleshooting server hardware (we use HPE and Dell hardware)
• Experience resolving issues within pre-defined SLAs (Service Level Agreement)
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
• Experience troubleshooting virtual and/or physical Windows Clusters
• Experience troubleshooting TCP/IP networking including SSH and TLS interfaces.

Year End Bonus

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro‑rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
