Job summary
Publix Super Markets is seeking a senior IT infrastructure engineer to drive VMware Cloud Foundation, cloud and on-prem automation, and data-driven operations. You will collaborate across security, platform engineering and software teams in a hybrid Lakeland environment.
Responsibilities include architecture, automation, and dashboard development using PowerBI and Aria Ops, maintaining secure, highly available systems, and guiding large projects from requirements through implementation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or analytical discipline or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years implementing VMware Cloud Foundation and adjacent VMware appliances.
- 4+ years with infrastructure management tools (SDDC Manager, HPE OneView, Dell OpenManage).
- 4+ years of Windows Server & Red Hat in secure virtual infra.
- 4+ years leading medium to large projects.
- 2+ years developing PowerBI, Data Bricks dashboards or similar.

- Maintain vendor relationships while extracting maximum value for Publix with effective time utilization.
- Create, review, collaborate, and update documentation for internal and peer customers
- Programmatically gather, analyze, and correlate data points across the VMware product stack in diverse and siloed environments
- Maintain consistent and iterative data collection while preserving data integrity and adhering to company security and audit standards for access and storage
- Collaborate with engineering peers and management to iteratively develop and maintain simplified internally accessible dashboards that facilitate data-driven decision-making
- Champion, develop and iterate automation processes, self-service portals, and monitoring tools to ensure consistency, maintain deployment velocity, and increase efficiency.
- Drive and operationalize responsible corporate use of AI to enhance collaboration, code development, process efficiency, and documentation while upholding security and data governance standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or analytical discipline, or equivalent experience
- 4+ years implementing, supporting, upgrading, securing, and migrating to VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF 5.2 or higher), including core components (SDDC, vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, and NSX) and adjacent VMware appliances such as Aria, vROPS, vRLI, LCM, vIDM, SRM, and vRNI.
- 4+ years implementing, supporting, upgrading, securing, and operationalizing infrastructure platform management tools such as SDDC Manager, HPE OneView, and Dell OpenManage.
- 4+ years of experience implementing, supporting, and migrating Windows Server & Red Hat operating systems in a highly segmented and secure virtual infrastructure
- 4+ years of experience with various hardware vendors product stack
- 4+ years of experience leading medium to large projects from requirements through implementation
- 4+ years of experience in DevOps Engineering for public cloud or on-premises Infrastructure as Code Automation using scripts and tools such as PowerShell, Terraform and Ansible
- 2+ years of experience in developing PowerBI, Data Bricks operational dashboards, or equivalent reporting within VMware Aria Operations, SharePoint, Data Lakes, or similar internally accessible data warehouses
- Experience in managing, capacity planning, supporting, and migrating guest virtual machines of various operating systems in a highly segmented and secure virtual infrastructure
- Experience with platform-related dependencies to include server, containers, NAS/SAN, hyperconverged solutions, core network design concepts, and hybrid cloud solutions
- Experience in developing, maintaining, and executing operational automation technologies, such as Azure DevOps, VRA, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Orchestrator or SCCM OS Deployments
- Good understanding of various System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies including traditional waterfall as well as agile methodologies (i.e., SCRUM, Kanban, etc.)
- Experience working with vulnerability management tools, compliance audits, and remediation implementation & tracking activities
- Experience working in a process structured environment which includes Change Management and Disaster Recovery (DR) Preparedness
- Solid understanding of the functional and operational practices necessary to operate in a highly available, highly secure, and highly regulated environment to meet business, security, and compliance requirements
- Experience in converting raw platform data points into insights for identifying & communicating potential issues, cost-effective solutions, or proactive platform actions to meet predicted just-in-time business needs during normal operations and DR situations
- Experience with responsible use of enterprise AI tools such as Microsoft 365 Copilot, GitHub Copilot, and agentic patterns to improve individual and team efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across automation, orchestration, and daily engineering tasks through custom agents and shared prompt repositories

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
