Job summary

Puget Sound Energy seeks a Senior Engineer to provide professional engineering services across planning, construction, operation, and analysis of facilities. The role emphasizes complex design, budget planning, cost estimates, and compliance with safety standards.

The selected candidate will work within PSE’s Engineering Operations, collaborating with teams and potentially directing junior engineers. A PE license or BS degree is required, with 8+ years of experience in engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree or PE license in electrical, mechanical, civil, or other engineering field.
• Eight or more years of practice as a degreed engineer with planning, design, cost estimating and scheduling.
• Demonstrated organization, documentation, prioritization, and project management skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interprets and/or modifies guidelines for application to existing problems or processes.
• Prepares complex designs, standards, studies, and analyses.
• Provides a detailed design review of internal or external technical documents.
• Prepares cost estimates and project evaluations without direct supervision.
• Plans and develops project budgets with appropriate documentation.
• Ensures compliance with codes, standards, and design, operation, and maintenance requirements.
• Identifies potential areas of weakness with assigned work, and initiates corrective action.
• Documents and shares work with others to strengthen the depth and breadth of skills within PSE’s engineering workforce.
• Communicates solutions to personnel with diverse backgrounds, including in public forums, in both verbal and written forms.
• Supports emergency response work as requested including restoration efforts driven by weather and system failures.
• May lead or coordinate the work of junior engineers and others; performs other duties as assigned.
