Role Overview

The Senior Construction Electrical Engineer serves as the technical lead for electrical engineering activities supporting Construction and Commissioning of Simple Cycle (SC), Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT), and Combined Heat and Power (CCHP) projects across Multi-Shaft and Single-Shaft configurations. This role provides expert-level engineering guidance, oversees the development and execution of construction and commissioning procedures, leads resolution of complex site and design issues, and ensures electrical installations meet Mitsubishi Power standards, customer requirements, and applicable federal/state/local codes. The Senior Engineer collaborates closely with Engineering, Site Managers, Technical Field Advisors, Quality teams, Vendors, and Contractors to drive safe, compliant, and efficient electrical system construction and startup. This position requires deep subject-matter expertise in power generation electrical systems and Gas Turbine control philosophy, with the ability to mentor junior engineers and lead cross-functional issue resolution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary electrical technical authority for construction and commissioning across assigned projects.
  • Lead development, review, and approval of complex electrical installation, testing, and commissioning procedures.
  • Provide expert interpretation of single-line diagrams, schematics, protection schemes, wiring diagrams, load lists, and equipment data.
  • Perform high-level analysis of AC/DC systems and validate design basis for field execution.
  • Conduct advanced design, documentation, and configuration verification to ensure complete and accurate electrical deliverables.
  • Ensure that designs and field installations comply with all applicable codes, standards, and Mitsubishi specifications.
  • Lead resolution of high-complexity site issues, including major construction deviations, electrical protection problems, turbine control malfunctions, and integration/interface issues.
  • Provide authoritative guidance to Field TFAs, Site Managers, and contractors in resolving electrical, instrumentation, controls, and power distribution problems.
  • Support root-cause investigations (RCAs) and develop permanent corrective actions.
  • Lead or support protection coordination studies, relay setting reviews, and short-circuit analysis.
  • Oversee construction support planning for multiple systems, ensuring alignment with the overall project schedule and commissioning sequence.
  • Review and provide final approval for PARs (Project Action Requests); ensure issues are resolved through cross-functional coordination (Quality, Design, Process, Supply Chain).
  • Lead bid evaluations, technical specification reviews, and major equipment acceptance.
  • Ensure strong communication and collaboration between Engineering, Site Teams, Vendors, and corporate functions.
  • Mentor Level II/III engineers; provide coaching, technical review, and technical skill development.
  • Promote best practices for construction and commissioning across the organization.
  • Drive standardization of electrical procedures, checklists, and commissioning protocols.
  • Champion a team culture of openness, safety, quality, technical rigor, and innovation.
