Job summary

IS International is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to act as the technical authority for construction and commissioning of gas turbine and large power generation projects. You will oversee electrical installation, testing, and commissioning procedures, ensure compliance with codes and Mitsubishi specs, and mentor junior engineers.

The role requires 10+ years of experience and a BS in Electrical Engineering, with travel up to 20–30% domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering required; 10+ years in gas turbine/CCGT power systems.
  • Serve as electrical technical authority for construction and commissioning.
  • Lead development and approval of electrical installation, testing, and commissioning procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO, OSHA, codes, and Mitsubishi specifications.
  • Willingness to travel 2030% domestically/internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve electrical submittals, PARs, and major equipment acceptance.
  • Coordinate protection, relays, and high-voltage distribution analyses.

  • Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and Site Managers for safe execution.
  • Develop grid code compliance procedures and testing plans.
  • Support RCAs and corrective actions for complex issues.
  • Travel as required to project sites (up to 2030%).

Job description

This role serves as the technical lead for electrical engineering support across construction and commissioning for Simple Cycle, Combined Cycle, and CHP power projects. The Senior Engineer provides expert guidance on electrical systems, oversees construction and commissioning activities, resolves complex site and design issues, and ensures compliance with Mitsubishi Power standards, customer requirements, and applicable codes. Ensure compliance with regional grid code requirements and oversee grid interconnection processes from developing, implementing and maintaining process, procedures and testing. The role collaborates closely with cross‑functional teams, vendors, and contractors to deliver safe, compliant, and efficient project execution while mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • · Serve as the primary electrical technical authority for construction and commissioning, providing expert guidance across assigned projects.
  • · Lead development, review, and approval of electrical installation, testing, and commissioning procedures; validate designs, analyses, and field execution for AC/DC systems.
  • · Interpret and verify complex electrical documents, including drawings, protection schemes, wiring diagrams, load lists, and equipment data, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and Mitsubishi specifications.
  • · Lead resolution of complex site and design issues, including protection, controls, integration, and commissioning challenges; support RCAs and corrective actions.
  • · Provide authoritative technical direction to Site Managers, TFAs, contractors, and vendors to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant execution.
  • · Oversee construction support planning, protection coordination studies, relay settings, short‑circuit analyses, and alignment with project schedules.
  • · Prepares or reviews grid code compliance procedures and coordinate compliance activities and provide guidance to Subject Matter Experts (SME).
  • · Review and approve technical submittals, PARs, bid evaluations, and major equipment acceptance through cross‑functional collaboration.
  • · Mentor and develop engineers, promote best practices, drive standardization of electrical procedures, and foster a culture of safety, quality, and technical excellence.
  • · Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering.
  • · 10+ years of experience supporting Gas Turbine, CCGT, or large power-generation electrical systems.
  • · Deep experience with GT controls, excitation systems, relays and protection, high-voltage distribution equipment, and commissioning practices.
  • · Experience with P6 or similar scheduling tools is desirable.
  • · Strong understanding of ISO procedures, OSHA requirements, and power plant safety protocols.
  • · Travel domestically/internationally up to 20–30% as required.
