Job summary

Target seeks a Sr. Engineer, Responsible Materials – Animal Welfare to advance animal welfare across Owned Brand supply chains. You’ll translate science into practical sourcing standards, set direction, and drive accountability with suppliers and internal teams.

The role is performed on-site 4 days per week at our Downtown MN campus and requires deep knowledge of housing, transport, and welfare across major species.

Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of animal welfare science and commercial livestock production.
  • Experience establishing technical standards and risk frameworks based on science.
  • Ability to balance welfare objectives with affordability and feasibility.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills across stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical direction for animal welfare across Owned Brand categories.
  • Develop roadmaps, standards and verification methods for supplier data.
  • Partner with internal teams and suppliers to close gaps and ensure progress.
  • Represent Target in industry collaborations and external reporting.
