Job summary

The San Diego County Water Authority is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead planning, design, and delivery of complex infrastructure projects supporting reliable water service for over 3 million residents in the region.

You will coordinate with engineers, consultants, operations, regulators, and partners to drive projects from planning through construction and implementation within the CIP and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• PE license required.
• Experience managing complex infrastructure/public works/water/civil projects.

Job description

The San Diego County Water Authority is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Engineer to lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex infrastructure projects that support reliable water service throughout the region. This is an opportunity to take a leadership role in the Water Authority's Capital Improvement Program, managing projects that enhance system reliability, operational efficiency, and long-term water supply resilience for more than 3 million San Diego County residents.

As a Senior Engineer, you will help deliver the infrastructure investments that keep water flowing across the region. You'll coordinate with engineers, consultants, contractors, operations staff, regulatory agencies, and regional partners to successfully deliver projects from planning and design through construction and implementation.

• Lead the delivery of complex capital improvement and infrastructure projects

Qualifications

We're looking for an engineering professional who:

• Holds a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
• Has significant experience managing complex infrastructure, public works, utility, water, or civil engineering projects
• Demonstrates strong leadership, project management, and organizational skills
• Excels at building collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholder groups
• Can effectively balance competing priorities while delivering results
• Possesses sound engineering judgment and strong problem-solving abilities
• Communicates technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
