BB&E Consulting Engineers and Professionals seeks a Senior Engineer to support AFCEC/CFSD at JBSA-Lackland, TX in a remote role. You will review designs, provide SME guidance, and ensure DoD compliance while engaging with program managers and stakeholders.

Ideal candidates hold a PE license with 10+ years in civil/structural/mechanical engineering, and possess strong communication skills. Travel for TDY to bases and occasional HQ AFCEC visits may be required.

Qualifications

• US citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a DoD fitness clearance.
• Experience reviewing technical deliverables, designs, and construction submittals.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences.
• PE license required; PMP and API certifications desirable.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide SME technical support; conduct design reviews and recommend corrective actions.
• Review RFIs, A&E, and construction submittals for DoD and industry standards.
• Advise Government Project Managers on technical approaches and deliverables.
• Develop and present technical training materials and briefs.
• Travel to Air Force bases on temporary duty; occasional HQ AFCEC visits.

BB&E is an employee-owned, full service civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm, headquartered in Northville, Michigan, which services both the Federal and Industrial sectors throughout the United States. BB&E team members provide Environmental Consulting, Facilities Engineering and Program/Project Management Services to Federal and private sectors.

Position Summary

BB&E is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Senior Engineer to join our team, providing technical support in support of the Air Force Civil Engineer Center Strategic Design and Construction Branch (AFCEC/CFSD) located at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA)-Lackland, TX. This position is a remote support position.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide technical engineering and Subject Matter Expert (SME) support. Conduct design reviews and make recommendations as to corrective action or approval
• Perform technical reviews of RFIs (potential changes, differing site conditions, etc.). Provide technical reviews of A&E and construction submittals
• Provide expert analysis and advice to Government Project Managers and stakeholders regarding A&E and construction Contractor deliverables to ensure compliance with DoD and industry standards, to include recommendation for approval or disapproval by the Government (e.g. designs, work plans, work classification, schedules, cost estimates, Contractor's approach/methods, Contractor proposals, to include effectiveness and efficiency of technical approach, and analysis of proposed work/activity productivity) in their respective discipline/area of expertise
• Develop and present technical presentations, visual media, and/or training related to mission areas
• Travel to various Air Force bases on temporary duty, and possibly infrequent trips to HQ AFCEC for in-person meetings

Requirements

Key Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a NACI/CAC is required
• Knowledge:
• o Knowledge of Department of the Air Force and Department of Defense (DoD) engineering and design regulations
• o Familiarity with the Air Force Civil Engineering organization.
• o Expertise reviewing technical deliverables, designs, and construction submittals
• Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
• Software: Proficiency using MS Office software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Self-Starter: Highly motivated, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines autonomously

Experience & Education

• Experience: At least ten (10) years of experience performing engineering duties related to design and/or construction.
• Education/Certifications: Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, or Chemical Engineering disciplines; and a master's degree in any field. Professional engineer's (PE) license is required; Project Management Professional (PMP) is desirable. American Petroleum Institute (API) Certifications are highly desirable. Substitution of experience for education, and certifications for experience will be considered.
