Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership for mechanical systems in nuclear power plant operations. You will design, analyze, modify, and support systems to ensure safety, reliability and regulatory compliance.

Based in Rock Hill, SC or Lawrenceville GA/Cranberry PA with a hybrid work option. Requires EIT and 4+ years in mechanical engineering, with familiarity of ASME, NRC, and related standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline is required.
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) is preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in a regulated environment.
• Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering evaluations, calculations, and analyses for mechanical systems and equipment.
• Develop, review, and approve design changes and engineering documents.
• Provide technical support for maintenance, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of mechanical issues.
• Prepare and review procurement specifications and work instructions.
• Interface with regulators, vendors, and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure compliance.
• Mentor junior engineers and support staff.
• Support outage planning, execution, and post-outage reviews.

About The Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will provide technical leadership and expertise in the design, analysis, modification, and support of mechanical systems and components for nuclear power plant operations. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and plant-specific procedures, supporting safe, reliable, and efficient plant performance.

You will report to the Manager, Procurement Engineering and be located at our Lawerenceville GA, Cranberry Township, PA -or- Rock Hill, SC facility. The position is hybrid; candidates may be able to work hybrid in other Westinghouse locations in the US.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and perform engineering evaluations, calculations, and analyses for mechanical systems, components, and equipment (e.g., pumps, valves, heat exchangers, piping, pressure vessels).
• Develop, review, and approve design changes, modifications, and engineering documents in accordance with plant procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical support for maintenance, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of mechanical system issues.
• Prepare and review procurement specifications, engineering change packages, and work instructions.
• Interface with regulatory agencies, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical issues and ensure compliance.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff.
• Participate in plant walkdowns, system health monitoring, and operability assessments.
• Support outage planning, execution, and post-outage reviews for mechanical systems.
• Ensure adherence to industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, NRC, IEEE) and plant licensing basis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (required)
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT)
• Minimum of 4 years of experience
• Demonstrated experience with mechanical system design, analysis, and troubleshooting in a regulated environment.
• Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $85,200 to $106,500 per year.
