Job summary

StackAI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own the Engine & Distributed Systems at the heart of our no-code AI workflow platform. You will design and implement the durable runtime that powers agents, ensuring correctness and reliability as workloads scale.

You will architect scheduling, checkpointing, and recovery, drive performance under load, and enable integration with new agent harnesses and model capabilities. This is deep systems work with real impact.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building backend systems in production with distributed systems depth.
• Hands-on experience with durable execution or workflow orchestration (Temporal, Cadence).
• Strong concurrency, queuing, retries, and fault tolerance under load.
• Strong in Python and modern backend frameworks (FastAPI or similar), with sound database fundamentals (Postgres).
• You're drawn to the correctness problems that everything else quietly depends on.

Responsibilities

• Own the execution engine: runtime, scheduling, and sub-agent parallelization.
• Build checkpointing, resumption, and recovery for long-running work.
• Shape the execution model: scheduling, queuing, and async transitions.
• Engineer for scale and reliability: health targets, latency, throughput.
• Keep the engine open to the ecosystem for new harnesses and model capabilities.
