Qualifications

• 5 to 8 years of experience practicing law in energy, utilities, environmental, or natural resources matters.
• Current, active membership in the California State Bar.
• Experience with regulatory and administrative litigation or proceedings.
• Exceptional legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
• Knowledge of California energy and utilities regulations and regulatory agencies.
• Strong client counseling, interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to manage complex matters independently with meticulous attention to detail.
• Distinguished academic record and demonstrated success in challenging legal work.

Responsibilities

• Represent clients in regulatory proceedings before the California Public Utilities Commission involving energy, communications, water, and transportation matters.
• Advise clients on utility ratemaking, regulatory compliance, energy market design, procurement obligations, reliability, renewable resources, and wildfire safety.
• Represent clients before the California Energy Commission, California Independent System Operator, Office of Energy Infrastructure and Safety, and California Air Resources Board.
• Negotiate energy-related agreements, including power purchase agreements and interconnection agreements.
• Advise developers on generation, energy storage, and transmission project development and permitting.
• Monitor and anticipate changes in utilities regulations and evolving regulatory requirements.
• Conduct complex legal research, prepare persuasive written submissions, and provide strategic client counseling.
• Collaborate with clients, regulators, industry participants, and internal stakeholders to advance matter objectives.
