Job summary

Downey Brand, a leading California law firm in water, environmental, energy, and natural resources law, seeks a senior associate attorney with 5 to 8 years of energy and utilities experience to join our Natural Resources Department in Sacramento or San Francisco. This role focuses on energy regulatory matters, project permitting, and environmental issues for both public and private clients.

Qualifications

• 5 to 8 years of energy and utilities law experience.
• Active member of the California State Bar.
• Experience before CPUC is a valuable attribute.
• Strong writing and analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Represent clients in regulatory proceedings before CPUC and related agencies.
• Negotiate energy contracts including PPAs and interconnection agreements.
• Advise developers of generation, storage and transmission projects.
• Identify evolving utility regulations and policy developments.
