Job summary

The Hartford is seeking an Underwriter for Energy Casualty to underwrite complex accounts and actively pursue new business pricing, servicing brokerage partners on an account-by-account basis. The role emphasizes coaching junior underwriters and driving agency management strategies.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in commercial underwriting, energy casualty experience preferred, and a strong ability to build internal and external relationships.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial underwriting experience; exposure to energy casualty preferred
• Experience underwriting energy casualty operations (upstream & midstream oil & gas, renewables) preferred
• Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
• Ability to think analytically about business problems and propose solutions
• High energy self-starter with resilience and entrepreneurial spirit
• Hybrid work environment; candidate must be located within commuting distance to listed locations and capable of regional travel

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and actively pursue new business pricing, servicing brokerage partners on an account-by-account basis
• Coach and mentor junior underwriters and support staff
• Manage agency relationships, strategy, and renewal accounts
• Maintain a strong sales pipeline and cross-sell/up-sell opportunities
• Provide exceptional service to agents and brokers with Hartford value proposition
