Job summary

Southland Industries seeks a Sr. Project Developer to lead post-selection and pre-construction phases of large energy projects. You will guide project teams from development through construction, ensuring alignment with sales strategy and acceptable margins.

Responsibilities include managing ECM decisions, subcontractor selection, project finance, and risk reviews while maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring a smooth handover to Operations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in ESPC/UESC or energy design/build projects.
• 3+ years leading cross-functional project teams.
• 7+ years energy industry knowledge (Cogeneration, DSM, renewables, HVAC).
• Experience in infrastructure and energy audits per federal vehicles.
• Strong business acumen with cash flow and financial analyses.
• Excellent oral and written communication with clients and internal teams.
• Ability to work with sales, customers, vendors, engineers, utilities, and agencies.
• Strong organization and technical writing, detail-oriented.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Construction Management.
• MBA or MS preferred but not required.
• Willingness to travel 50%.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach cross-functional project development teams to scope, schedule, cost, and savings.
• Review/approve ECM selection and development for risk and goals.
• Serve as primary business contact for customers during development.
• Guide subcontractor selection per client and Southland standards.
• Lead project finance activities and final client cash flows.
• Define O&M strategy to sustain project outcomes long-term.
• Prepare risk assessments and obtain management approval.
• Negotiate contractual terms and agreements.
• Ensure project handover to Operations.
