Job summary

Duquesne Light Holdings seeks an Energy Project Engineer to lead technical delivery of energy projects across commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. You will engineer feasibility through design and construction, ensuring optimized performance and compliance with standards.

You will collaborate with internal and external teams to translate concepts into executable plans, build energy models, and support commissioning and post-implementation reporting.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Architectural, or Energy Engineering (or related field) is required.
• 5+ years of experience performing energy audits or delivering energy projects.
• Proficiency with energy modeling tools and Excel-based analysis.
• Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems (HVAC, controls, switchgear).
• Experience with ECM implementation from constructability perspective.
• Strong scope-of-work development for subcontractors to mitigate risk.

Responsibilities

• Lead energy audits, data analysis, and end-use profiling to identify savings.
• Develop feasibility studies, savings calculations, and business cases (NPV/IRR).
• Build and calibrate energy models (eQUEST, EnergyPlus, HAP).
• Prepare DER scenarios (solar, storage, CHP, DR) and present findings.
• Produce engineering deliverables and ensure code compliance (NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE).
• Coordinate with construction, subcontractors, OEMs, and integrators.
• Review submittals, RFIs, site inspections, and support commissioning.
• Develop O&M manuals and M&V plans; track performance post-implementation.
• Navigate permitting/interconnection processes and identify incentives.
