Job summary

Rincon Consultants seeks a Senior Environmental Planner to support renewable energy, storage, and transmission projects across California and the Western U.S. You will lead routing, siting, and permitting, coordinating multidisciplinary teams to deliver compliant solutions.

The role emphasizes mentorship, QA/QC, and client leadership while advancing clean energy through complex entitlement processes and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 7+ years of environmental planning, permitting, or environmental consulting experience.
• Experience supporting renewable energy, energy storage, transmission, or infrastructure in the Western U.S.
• Strong knowledge of federal/state/local environmental regulations and permitting.
• Experience preparing and managing NEPA documents; familiarity with CEQA.

Responsibilities

• Lead discretionary land use entitlement and permitting for energy infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate routing, siting, and permitting efforts across multidisciplinary teams.
• Develop permitting strategies to support project development and operation.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to QA/QC and knowledge sharing.
• Support business development, including proposals and client relationship management.
• Interface with clients, agencies, tribes, stakeholders, and communities throughout development.
