Job summary

Amazon's Energy & Water Legal team within AWS is hiring a Corporate Counsel to structure, draft, and negotiate complex energy project agreements, including PPAs, utility contracts, and interconnection arrangements, advancing our renewable procurement program.

You will lead transactions from concept through closing, coordinate with internal stakeholders, and advise on regulatory matters to ensure compliance and scalable, innovative deal structures in support of our climate commitments.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor and bar membership in one state
• 5+ years of post-bar legal experience
• 5+ years of transactional experience in energy/infrastructure/project financing
• Experience in energy regulatory matters or proceedings
• Mix of private practice and utility/regulator experience
• Familiarity with grid interconnection processes and transmission planning

Responsibilities

• Structure, draft, and negotiate complex energy project agreements including PPAs and interconnection arrangements
• Provide legal counsel on deal structures, grid interconnection processes, and regulatory requirements in energy
• Lead transactions from concept through closing across multiple workstreams with stakeholders
• Support AWS renewable energy procurement by advising on structure, risk, and compliance
• Collaborate with business development, infrastructure, and sustainability teams to align legal solutions with objectives
