Job summary

Unitil, a utility serving New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine, seeks a senior manager to oversee energy efficiency programs. You will lead program development, liaise with regulators and ESCOs, and coordinate with various departments to ensure compliant, effective delivery across residential, commercial and industrial sectors.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead EE program development, implementation and management in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
• Coordinate RFPs, contractor selection, bids, and contracts ensuring performance.
• Develop systems to store EE program information meeting regulatory requirements.
• Maintain relationships with regulators, ESCOs, and other stakeholders, including testimony where needed.
• Mentor teams and support storm restoration and other critical operations.

Position Purpose

Manage and coordinate the implementation of energy efficiency (\"EE\") programs in a manner consistent with regulatory requirements in New Hampshire and Massachusetts and in conformance with budgetary guidelines, ensuring effective delivery of programs throughout the Unitil service territories for all market sectors: residential, commercial, and industrial.

Principal Accountabilities

30%

Provides superior service to electric and gas customers by developing, implementing and managing the Company's EE programs in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and by integrating those programs with the Company’s gas expansion, economic development and key account efforts.

• Leads EE program efforts including program development, implementation and management.
• Interviews and selects appropriate energy service companies, prepares and issues RFPs, evaluates bids, and arranges contracts.
• Manages the work activities of all engaged consulting firms/contractors, monitors performance and customer satisfaction with services provided to ensure that

performance is in conformance with established guidelines.

25%

Consults with large commercial and industrial customers addressing the effective and efficient utilization of energy. Establishes Unitil as a strategic energy partner with the company’s most strategic business and industrial customers.

• Conducts field conferences, inspections, and consultations to discuss potential qualifying energy efficiency projects.
• Provides technical support as required and arranges for the implementation of projects, monitors the long-term effectiveness of completed work, and prepares documentation and payment of company incentives within regulatory and

budgetary guidelines.

Develops and maintains systems to store EE program information that meet Company and regulatory agency requirements. Disseminates information as required.

• Prepares impact analysis for EE programs.

• Monitors and reports on program implementation for saturation goals, delivery costs, and Incentive Plans.
• Assists in the preparation of technical potential studies, compliance filings, and other filings before state regulatory agencies.
• Periodically reports results/status of programs and budgets to department management.

Builds and maintains relationships with regulators, ESCOs, utility counterparts, and other stakeholders.

• Takes a lead role in collaborative efforts with regulators, ESCOs, and other

stakeholders, demonstrating knowledge, leadership and credibility.

• Provides expert testimony on behalf of the Company before regulatory agencies.
• Secures stakeholder support both publicly and politically for Unitil initiatives by delivering programs that are customer focused and targeted to create and maintain

critical customer relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physical sciences. However, candidates with degrees in other fields coupled with strong experience in project management will also be considered. Master’s degree preferred.
• 10+ years of related experience. Must be able to demonstrate successful professional experience across technical, strategic and business areas and must have superior communication (oral/written), technical and computer skills.
