Job summary

Steven Winter Associates in the NYC area seeks a senior engineer for the Building Operations, Decarbonization & Efficiency (BODE) team. You will lead energy audits, decarbonization feasibility studies, and retrofit strategies to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions.

You will support commissioning across projects, train junior colleagues, and deliver technical trainings, advancing SWA's leadership in sustainable building practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related science; 5+ years in HVAC for large multifamily or commercial buildings.
• Experience with commissioning (Cx), RCx, decarbonization planning, and advanced energy audits.
• Hands-on field inspections and performance testing on HVAC/MEP systems in large buildings.

Responsibilities

• Support commissioning and retro‑commissioning for multifamily, mixed‑use, commercial, institutional, cultural/art center, and community buildings.
• Develop commissioning plans and testing procedures, and create technical reports and presentations.
• Perform functional testing of central plant equipment, controls, and energy‑related systems to verify performance and identify optimization opportunities.
• Drive decarbonization studies and advanced energy audits to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon footprint.
• Lead and mentor junior staff and deliver technical training for building professionals.
