Job summary

The Piedmont Environmental Council seeks a Senior Energy and Climate Analyst to advocate sustainable energy solutions for the Virginia Piedmont region. You will report to the Senior Energy and Climate Advisor and coordinate with Land Use staff on energy policy at local, regional, and state levels.

A strong candidate will develop positions on energy policy, engage partners, and advance policy solutions for distributed generation and related issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in energy resources, public policy, engineering, or related field.
• Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to organize, coordinate and manage diverse activities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical resource on local energy and climate issues, including zoning input and policy development.
• Develop pilot projects and highlight distributed generation in PEC’s region.
• Develop metrics and data analyses for distributed generation projects.
• Research legislative priorities and language.
• Monitor energy policy developments at regional and state levels.
• Collaborate with leadership to evaluate distributed energy investments.
