Job summary

AspenTech seeks a Principal Power Systems Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and support of EMS applications for electric utilities. You will work with customers and cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, optimal power system performance across Power Flow, State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, and related tools.

You will also train customers, provide technical support, and help configure software components to meet contract specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required.
• 8+ years in power systems or related project engineering.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.
• Excellent oral and written communication; strong problem-solving.
• Master’s degree preferred in Power Systems.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers and engineering teams to understand requirements and project plans for AspenTech DGM's EMS portfolio.
• Design, integrate, test, and commission advanced control systems for electric utilities, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Communicate detailed requirements to internal stakeholders and contribute to project and product documentation.
• Conduct thorough unit testing and tuning to ensure power system applications meet standards.
• Install and configure EMS applications (Power Flow, State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, OPF) for seamless integration.
• Partner with development teams to troubleshoot, prioritize, and evaluate product enhancements.
• Develop and deliver training programs to empower customers in using their power system applications.
• Provide expert consultation on power system modeling and capabilities.
• Deliver prompt technical support to troubleshoot live customer systems.
