Association of Corporate Counsel seeks an Assistant General Counsel – Employment Law to serve as the organization’s senior legal expert on all employment law matters in Marlborough, MA. Qualifications

• J.D. from a top law school with active bar in at least one US jurisdiction.
• 12+ years of employment law experience including litigation management and advisory work.
• Proven ability to lead and develop attorneys and collaborate with HR and leadership.
• Experience with HR tech and data privacy intersecting with employment law.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior legal expert on employment law including hiring, discipline, termination, compensation, benefits, leaves, and accommodation.
• Provide preventive legal counsel to HR and business leaders to mitigate risks.
• Stay ahead of evolving laws and advise on compliance obligations.
• Defend and supervise employment-related claims and manage outside counsel.
• Negotiate resolution of disputes balancing risk with business priorities.
• Develop and implement employment policies to ensure compliance; lead risk assessments.
• Lead training programs for managers and employees on employment law topics.
• Support enterprise-wide legal compliance programs and risk management initiatives.
• Partner with HR on employee relations matters and internal investigations.
• Provide employment law support for strategic transactions and contracts.
• Direct and mentor the employment and immigration legal team.
