Job summary

Papaya Global is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel & Employment Expert to join its Legal team in New York. You will handle global employment issues, draft and negotiate agreements, and provide employment law guidance to the company and its clients.

The role requires US-qualified status with 4+ years in-house and strong cross-border labor law knowledge, including use of AI tools for legal workflows. This is a senior, full-time position in a fast-growing tech unicorn.

Qualifications

• US-qualified attorney with 4+ years in-house experience.
• Expertise in labor and employment laws (local and international).
• HR experience or related field is a plus.
• Litigation experience is advantageous.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Able to communicate complex legal issues clearly.
• Hands-on with AI-enabled legal workflows and drafting.

Responsibilities

• Handle global employment issues and act as expert contact for labor and employment law.
• Advise on Employment and Labor topics including recruiting, hiring, performance, terminations, compensation.
• Draft, revise, and advise on employment, contractor, and separation agreements.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts (services, NDAs, DPAs, SaaS).
• Provide legal guidance to clients on employment law topics.
• Coordinate with global partners on employment legal issues.
• Work with Sales, Product, Marketing, Finance, Customer Success on legal matters.
• Leverage AI tools to support contract analysis, drafting, and research.
