Job summary

Santander is seeking an experienced Employment Attorney to join its Legal Department in the United States. The role focuses on providing day-to-day employment law counsel, drafting policies and agreements, and overseeing employment-related litigation and investigations.

The ideal candidate will have a J.D. and current US license, 9+ years of practice, and 3+ years in financial services. Strong drafting, negotiation, and client relations skills are essential.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and active license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction.
• 9+ years of legal experience.
• 3+ years in financial services, bank, or law firm supporting financial services.
• Familiarity with matters involving licensed financial professionals, regulatory reporting or FINRA-related issues preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day employment law advice to HR and leadership.
• Draft employment-related documents and policies.
• Manage employment litigation, arbitrations, and investigations, including coordinating outside counsel.
• Partner with HR and business leaders on employment matters involving licensed professionals.
• Monitor wage-hour laws, workplace harassment regulations, and compliance trends.
• Deliver training and best practices to HR and managers.
• Participate in cross-functional legal projects as needed.
