Job summary

The City of Visalia invites applications for a Senior Communications Operator within the Visalia Police Department. This supervisory role oversees daily shift operations, staffing, budgeting, and training while handling routine and emergency telephone and radio traffic and coordinating police, fire, and animal control.

Ideal candidates will have two years of 911 dispatch experience with a law enforcement agency, a high school diploma or GED, California POST Dispatcher Certificate, CTO

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of 911 dispatch experience with a law enforcement agency.
• Possession of a high school diploma or GED.
• California POST Dispatcher Certificate required.
• CTO certificate within 18 months of appointment preferred.
• Keyboarding speed of 40 CWPM; valid California driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily shift operations, staffing, and scheduling.
• Monitor and coordinate routine and emergency telephone and radio traffic.
• Dispatch police, fire, and animal control as needed.
• Prepare written documents and maintain logs and records.
