Job summary

CesiumAstro in Melbourne, Florida, is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer II to lead embedded software development from concept to production for satellite-grade hardware. The role covers low-level and high-level software across Linux-based SBCs and high-reliability microcontroller systems, with emphasis on real-time, multi-threaded applications and rigorous qualification processes.

Qualifications

BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
6+ years of software development experience.
Experience with embedded hardware development and debugging; API design for interfacing with FPGAs.
Experience with aerospace products.
C or C++ programming.
Embedded systems design with preemptive, multitasking RTOS (RT-Linux desirable).
Familiarity with software configuration management tools and peer review.
Strong knowledge of real-time coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces, and hardware subsystems.
Proficient in multi-threaded applications and resource management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Design and implement software for embedded devices from requirements to production and deployment.
Develop, code, test, debug, and document system software.
Review code and system designs.
Analyze code for efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
Integrate and validate new product designs.
Support software QA and optimize I/O performance.
Provide post-production/in-orbit customer support.
Interface with hardware design and development engineers.
Evaluate third-party and open-source software.
