Job summary

Heaviside Industries, Inc. seeks an experienced embedded software engineer to design and maintain software for autonomous munitions and related systems.

You will work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to move capabilities from prototype to production, ensuring robust performance in GPS-denied and radio-jammed environments. The role emphasizes C/C++ development, Python tooling, and deep integration with hardware interfaces, sensors, and actuation systems, within a small, fast-moving team.

Qualifications

• Must have strong C/C++ skills and practical Python for tooling or integration.
• Embedded Linux/RTOS experience with cross-compilation and hardware/software debugging.
• Experience integrating sensors, radios, actuators, or similar hardware into fielded systems.

Responsibilities

• Write robust C, C++, and Python for resource-constrained, real-time environments on Linux/RTOS targets.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, RF, and systems engineers to take capabilities from prototype to production.
• Design, implement, and maintain software for autonomous systems including embedded software, mission software, and ground tools.
• Build and own interfaces to sensors, radios, actuators, cameras, and other hardware; validate on bench and in field.
• Develop simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, and automated test infrastructure to accelerate iteration.
• Support integration campaigns and field tests, debugging on live hardware and turning findings into fixes.
• Contribute to engineering practices like code review, CI, and lightweight documentation.
