Job summary

Shield AI in Boston seeks experienced embedded software engineers to join the X-BAT Embedded Software Team, developing avionics software for UAVs. You will work on C/C++ code, architecture reviews, sensor interfaces, and integration with GCS and autonomy components.

You should have strong embedded C/C++, OO design, and a track record shipping aerospace-grade software. Eligibility for S/SAR clearance is desirable; a STEM background is preferred.

Qualifications

• Strong embedded C/C++ development in avionics.
• Proficient in OO programming and modern C++.
• Experience with BSPs or systems software components.
• Solid knowledge of computer architecture, OS, and networks fundamentals.
• Proven ownership of development processes and features.
• Experience shipping military aircraft software; DO-178C familiarity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality C/C++ code for X-BAT aircraft.
• Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews.
• Integrate software from multiple departments including firmware, test & verification, Autonomy AI, and GCS.
• Develop interfaces to avionics sensors, subsystems, and payloads.
• Support design updates to the software architecture.
• Create tools to improve deployment, testing, and data analysis under CI/CD.
