Shield AI is seeking an experienced Autonomous Software Engineer to develop and field autonomy for V-BAT and X-BAT platforms. You will integrate mission behaviors, sensor payloads, and multi-agent coordination while working closely with the Aircraft team to validate interfaces and support release readiness.

The role requires 5+ years in C++ real-time/embedded systems, Linux-based development, and the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance. Travel may be required for field events and demonstrations.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong C++ development experience in real-time or embedded systems.
• Experience with Linux-based development and embedded systems.
• Experience integrating complex software systems and troubleshooting across hardware/software boundaries.
• Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and field autonomy software for V-BAT and X-BAT, including mission behaviors and multi-agent coordination.
• Collaborate with Aircraft team to validate interfaces and ensure release readiness.
• Partner with Autonomy Capabilities, Perception, GCS, ACP, and customer stakeholders to deliver mission capabilities.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor teammates, and participate in design reviews.
