Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking an engineer in Mossville, IL to join the Drivetrain Systems and Software Team. You will lead design, development, and testing of transmission software, collaborating with software architects to ensure high-performance control of transmission systems.

The role requires a bachelor’s in engineering or CS, 5+ years of experience, and proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and embedded tools. Domestic relocation is available; Visa sponsorship is not offered. Full-time with 10% travel.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science required.
5+ years of engineering experience typically aligned with seniority.
Experience using MATLAB/Simulink for software development.
Extensive knowledge of tools such as Git, CANalyzer, CANape, and CAN/J1939 protocols.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership in the design, development, and enhancement of transmission systems to optimize products and system.
Interact with machine and transmission application leads and software architects to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain transmission software.
Integrate common software library modules and source code generated from a code generation tool.
Testing and debugging embedded system software using different tools/methods to improve code quality and optimize system performance.
Perform laboratory verification of software along with Model in the Loop (MIL) testing.
